Funday Description
In 2012 we are offering Funday activities on many Saturday mornings for members of the Scout and Guide Association.
Fundays are Saturday morning sessions at which teenagers who can already sail to some extent get a chance to go on the water and practice sailing. These are also useful for people who wish to practice their sailing before or after taking part in a sailing course.
Fundays will include games afloat, simple races and some coaching to develop sailing skills. They are not RYA courses, but will be run by qualified RYA Instructors to the strict safety and safeguaring policies of Scouts, Guides and the RYA.
The emphasis is on a fun activity in a safe environment but these are not sailing courses and instruction on a 1:1 basis will not be available, so participants will need to be able to sail to at least an elementary standard.
Funday Information
We provide all the safety equipment required for the activity.
Be prepared for wild windy days and the possibility of getting wet; plenty of warm clothing and a wetsuit if you have one. We recommend an old pair of trainers or wet boots.
Funday Pre-
Participants need to have attended at least one RYA course (Stage 2 or better) in the last 2 years, or have similar experience.
Age group: 11 years plus
Available to members of the Scout and Guide Associations only.
